Maybe some of you heard about the "padlock of love" or "Lucchetti dell'Amore" / "Liebesschlösser".
Hundred couples in love fixed padlocks at the Makartsteg - it's a bridge across the Salzach at Salzburg city - to seal their love symbolic.
After locking the couples throw the key into the river.
Many of the padlocks have engravings with the initials.
I read about the ritual at the Web, it's also common in other cities, but in cities like Rome or Berlin it's not allowed to fix padlocks at bridges or something else..
I think it's a cute idea and as long as it harms no one - why not?
