New Year's Cake

I made something extra-sweet on Dec. 31st : a chocolate cake for New Year's Day.

  • 140 g butter
  • 120 g dark chocolate
  • 150 g cake flour
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 6 egg white
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 200 g almonds (grated/shredded)
  • 150 g candied orange peel (finely chopped)

1) preheat the oven to 170° C (338° F), butter a round springform pan and and powder with some flour

2) heat butter and dark chocolate together in a bowl on the water bath, sift flour and powdered sugar together

3) beat egg white for 1 minute, add the granulated sugar carefully, beat again to creamy beaten egg white

4) fold in flour&sugar-mix and almonds, then liquid butter&chocolate-mix and at last add the candied orange peel

5) fill springform pan with mixture and bake about 45 minutes

6) after baking cool down and decorate with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream
